As fellow parents and families of CUBC athletes, we know that being part of Cambridge University Boat Club is about so much more than rowing in a boat. It’s about belonging. The culture at CUBC provides wrap-around support for our children’s university experience. It supports their physical and mental health, fosters community, and develops life skills like resilience and teamwork.
Balancing high-performance training with academic commitments is no small feat, and your encouragement and support play a crucial role in their journey.
This year, our Parent & Family fundraising project will focus on small but meaningful ways to improve your student’s day-to-day experience:
- Hot meals and drinks: We'd like to begin a new initiative to serve hot meals on winter double-session Sundays and hot drinks every day at Ely Boathouse. The coaches and student presidents have welcomed the idea, which offers comfort during cold outings and brings the team together during the toughest parts of selection.
- Funding 10 new erg machines: Ensuring every student has equitable access to essential equipment, both for our students and those who come after them.
- One final second-hand minibus: Thank you again to everyone who donated to this project last year! Our goal this year is to complete the fleet for safe, reliable athlete travel to Ely and London. Unreliable trains, cold waits at stations, or a broken-down minibus on the A1 add stress to an already demanding schedule. Minibuses do more than transport athletes. They’re where friendships form, laughter happens, and the team prepares for what’s ahead: the next session, the next race, the next victory.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to our shared goal.
Thank you for being part of the CUBC family.
