Carrying the Legacy Forward: A Call to Support Our Lightweight Men from Josh Moore, 2026 President
Dear alumni and supporters,
The 2026 Boat Race season is proving fiercely competitive and as final selection draws closer, we are aiming to raise our standard higher again. We have had strong results at both Head of the Charles in October and Four’s Head in November where we were delighted to win the Academic 4+ category. Following on from an exciting race in Trial Eights which resulted in a winning margin of a couple of seats, we made great progress during camp in Avis, Portugal. We managed to win our first fixture against Vesta which gave us some confidence that if we continue to trust our training and pull together as a crew, we can produce our best rowing on the 3rd April against Oxford. We hope to see many of our supporters there!
For five years, 'Mike' has been the workhorse of the CUBC lightweight men. Loved by the crew, we are pushing hard to achieve one final victory for the ‘Mike’ before purchasing another shell for the next generation. As our squad gets stronger and stronger each year, it is more important than ever that we are able to use the best equipment. If you can help us purchase this new shell, it will mean a huge amount to our squad to know we have your support ahead of this year’s Boat Race and to know the next generation of lightweight men’s rowing at Cambridge is secured. Our goal is to raise £60,000 to make this possible, and the next £16,000 raised will be matched £ for £.
